Following music ban, Kartel vows to never visit Guyana again
The ban was announced yesterday; just over a month after Kartel opted not to show up for a scheduled performance at the government-supported Jam Zone Summer Break show in the Guyanese capital of Georgetown. According to state-owned, National Communications Network spokesman, Martin Goolsarran, Kartel’s music was forbidden from being played on local airwaves given the obscenity & hardcore nature of his lyrics. Additionally, Goolsarran claimed that music from “Di Teacha” offered “nothing positive” to the entertainment industry.
Kartel, real name, Adidja Palmer has broken his silence regarding the indefinite suspension of his music in the South American nation; hinting that the officials are hypocrites for imposing the ban. "It's interesting, especially since that same radio station did a concert with me based on the fact that, and I quote, “The Guyana people don't want to see nobody but you.” Unfortunately, I didn't attend the show and that is the reason why the ban on my music was imposed. With that being said, I care zero about them and their ban because I won't be visiting Guyana ever,” Kartel intimated to the Jamaica STAR.
As for the implications the ban has on Kartel’s relationship with Guyana as a whole, he stated, "I refused to go there before the ban was imposed so that ban wasn't necessary. I banned myself. Big up the Guyanese Gaza fans but I would sooner tour Iraq than go to Guyana.”
Kartel earlier implied that the reason he refused to board a Caribbean Airlines flight to the Jam Zone Summer Break event last month due to alleged death & kidnapping threats made against him by the Guyanese. Two years prior to this, Kartel cancelled another performance in Guyana for similar reasons.

NEW Vybz Kartel compilation to be released!!
TAD'S Record is set to release Colouring Book, a compilation of the biggest radio and street anthems of 2011 from Vybz Kartel.
In keeping with Kartel's controversial nature and unrestricted lyrical prowess, the album will feature both the raw and edited versions of 12 of the deejay's hit singles. Colouring Book will hit digital outlets on July 19.
According to Tad's, Colouring Book shows off the many shades of Vybz Kartel, from the playful feel-good anthem Summer Time, and the spiritually uplifting Jah Love We.
The album gets its title from Kartel's controversial single Colouring Book (Tattoo Time Come). Vybz Kartel set off a media firestorm worldwide this year for lightening the complexion of his skin to heighten the colour of his tattoos. On Colouring Book, Kartel thumbs his nose at critics by proudly proclaiming "mi skin pretty like a colouring book".
Colouring Book's production credits include Adidja 'Vybz Kartel' Palmer, Tarik 'Russian' Johnston, Ainsley 'Notnice' Morris, Shawn 'ZJ Chrome' Cabal, and Linton 'TJ' White.

JA police looking for Mavado, Bounty Killer- 'Mavado' charged with assault
DANCEHALL powerhouses Rodney 'Bounty Killer' Price and David 'Mavado' Brooks reported to the police earlier today in relation to an incident at a popular haunt in New Kingston this morning.
Both were named as persons of interest by the Half-Way-Tree Police following the incident outside the Quad Nightclub which resulted in a member of Mavado's entourage being allegedly shot by a member of the security forces.
The deejays were not wanted for any crimes but were being sought by the cops who wanted to collect statements from them in relation to the shooting. They gave statements and left the station.
The shooting reportedly happened during an altercation which developed after a security guard attempted to search a member of the deejays' entourage.
The injured man was reportedly shot in the stomach and is now in a serious condition in hospital.
Police said the two men, hours later, turned up at the station where Bounty Killer, whose real name is Rodney Pryce, was questioned and released. Brooks was, however, charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and was offered station bail in the sum of $30,000.
He is scheduled to appear before the Half-Way-Tree Resident Magistrate's Court to answer the charge on June 23.
Brooks was last month charged with malicious destruction of property in the St Ann's Bay Resident Magistrate's Court but was later freed after the complainant in the case dropped the matter.
