Usher's Stepson Kyle Glover Passes Away
| Usher with stepson Kyle Glover and Tameka Foster |
Kyle Glover (also spelt Kile), son of Tameka Foster and beloved stepson of Usher, has passed away on Saturday morning. The 11-year-old suffered critical brain injuries following a tragic jet ski accident in Georgia on July 8, and had been on life support since.
TMZ reports that the decision to remove Kyle from life support came after doctor's determined his injuries were too severe to overcome. According to sources, Foster struggled tremendously with the decision and is devastated at her son's passing.
Glover was injured while riding in an inner tube on Lake Lanier, just outside of Atlanta, when he was hit by a jet ski. Another child, a female friend of Kyle's, was also on the inner tube at the time of the accident, but she managed to escape with minor injuries.
Authorities are investigating the accident, but it has been confirmed that a friend of the family was riding the jet ski at the time of the tragedy. No arrests have been made and it is not being treated as a criminal investigation at this time.
Usher has supported his estranged wife throughout this difficult time, and chartered a plane for Tameka to rush to her son's side as soon as she heard of the accident.
"Usher practically raised Kyle as his own. He's known him for seven years," a source said recently. "He loved Kyle. This is a terrible, awful tragedy. Usher is torn up."
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Tameka, Usher and the rest of the family at this difficult time.

Damon Dash and others remember Aaliyah ten years after her Death
Damon Dash, who was Aaliyah's boyfriend at the time of her death, remembers her and how unbelievably heartbreaking it was for him when she passed away. He says:
"My heart was broken. Nothing prepares you for that. She was intelligent and she caught me. I'm the kind of guy who says things sometimes just to make myself laugh, but she would just catch me making jokes for me. I couldn't get anything past her. She had a very quick mind and a very kind heart.
Our time together meant so much that when we got more time, we felt like that [engagement] would be next. She was one of the best people I ever met. Even with the pain I felt, I would do it all over again."
We can't believe it's been 10 years since her death. She was such a beautiful person inside and out and we admired her tremendous talent. She left us way too soon. (January 16, 1979 – August 25, 2001 [22 years old])

Cultural icon Pat Bishop dies
Cultural icon and Trinity Cross recipient Pat Bishop has died.
According to the Trinidad Express, Bishop, 71, passed away yesterday afternoon after she collapsed during a meeting in Port of Spain with Minister of Planning, Dr Bhoendradatt Tewarie, masman Peter Minshall and a number of her cultural colleagues.
Bishop, who had complained earlier in the day of chest pains, collapsed during the meeting of Government's High Level Expert Panel to Guide the Implementation of Arts, Cultural and Entrepreneurial Projects and Patriotism Project, at the Ministry of Planning at the Eric Williams Finance Building, Independence Square, Port of Spain.
She was taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital.
Bishop, who was perhaps best known for directing the Lydian Singers and the Desperadoes Steel Orchestra, died around 5.20 p.m. at the hospital.
The panel, of which Bishop was a part, consists of a number of members of the arts and culture community.
Tewarie told the Sunday Express last night that the panel met for about three-and-a-half hours before he was called in for further discussion.
The panel had held its final meeting before finishing a report on building institutions and identifying cultural projects on artistic developments.
It was while Minshall was speaking, Tewarie said, that Bishop suddenly "pulled up" into her chair and collapsed.
Head of the Artists Coalition, Rubadiri Victor and Dr Kiran Akal rushed to Bishop's side and tried, unsuccessfully, to revive her.
Others in the room were at the same trying to get an ambulance to the building, Tewarie said.
The ambulance arrived 20 minutes later.
It was another 20 minutes or so before the ambulance arrived at the Port of Spain General Hospital, where Bishop was admitted through the Emergency Department.
Doctors on duty were not able to revive Bishop and have so far diagnosed the cause of death as a combination of a heart attack and stroke.
An autopsy is to be performed tomorrow.
She was the holder of Trinidad & Tobago's highest award -The Trinity Cross - the pursuit of scholarship, culture, the arts (in particular painting and music), and service to her country in fields as diverse as environmental education, Government economic policy and the development of Carnival represents but a small fraction of her pursuits and interests. She was a business executive, painter, musician, historian, media commentator, choreographer and fashion designer, was also a renowned ethnomusicologist. She directed the Lydian Singers in at least thirty concerts a year and has been conferred with the Hon. D.Litt. (UWI) in 1994.
