Kalifa Hislop wins Miss Tobago Heritage Personality 2012

One of the most highly anticipated events of the Tobago Heritage Festival, the Miss Heritage Personality show came off with a bang in Roxborough under the theme "Here we Stand". During the contest there was quite a display of local talent from communities and groups all across the island.

However, the highlight of the evening was a performance by Ella Andall who got the audience on its feet.

THA Chief Secretary Orville London and Kalifa
Ten beautiful young ladies representing communities all across the island competed for the prized crown of Miss Heritage by displaying their talents, indigenous wear and their intelligence. Contestants were judged on a range of different aspects from how they wowed the audience to presentation and creativity.

At the end of the night, it was Kalifa Hislop who was crowned Miss Heritage 2012. For talent, she song a folk song focusing on the fact that young girls are growing up differently to that of long ago and without proper role models. In the indigenous wear segment, she wore a beautiful dress displaying the national colours, red, black and white.

When asked if she thinks that a pageant of this nature can promote healthy lifestyles in communities, she answered boldly and confidently that she believes it does because it is a pageant with a purpose of interactions, and teaches persons to respect each other.
