He has been identified as Conroy Edwards of Salisbury Plains in St Andrew.
Police report that members of Mavado's entourage refused to be searched when they attempted to enter the club and a fracas ensued.
Edwards was shot in the abdomen and was hospitalised for three days before he died.
Mavado has since been charged for assault in connection with the incident.
